Keeping your menu simple when opening up your own café

Opening up your own café is a really big achievement, and that’s why keeping it successful is so important. Creating your own café takes time, from the design and decoration to the coffee beans and food menu.

Once you are happy with the design and layout of your café, you can start working on your menu. Your menu should be kept as simple as possible. It is better to have a small number of good quality options rather than a ten-page menu full of ready-made poor quality food options.

As a rough guide, a café menu should include at least 3 breakfast options and at least 3 lunch options. By all means you can run a dish of the day on your ‘today’s special’ board. You can’t have a café without cakes, these can be displayed daily in your cabinet. By not putting cakes on the menu, you can change what cakes you make each day, plus customers will love to see what cakes are available each day too.
