Mug cakes seemed to come out of nowhere, but now there are books and books of recipes on the market. A mug cake is a cake that’s prepared and enjoyed in a mug, and usually cooked in the microwave. You can make chocolate cakes, ginger cake, coffee cake, lemon cake and cookie dough  among many other unique recipes. Simply add in one egg and 1/3 cup of self-raising flour to the mug, along with the goodies of your choice, whether that’s chocolate chips, chocolate orange or jam. It’s completely up to you. Then stir in brown sugar and pop in the microwave for 3 minutes. When the timer goes off, simply add a spoonful of ice cream over the top and enjoy. It’s a great desert for those who want something quick and easy.
